Dust Mop Cleaning and Washing

Cotton and synthetic dust mops washing

Machine Washing

The following procedure for machine washing soiled cotton mops will assure maximum dusting and wearing results.
1. Briskly shake out or vacuum excessive dust in mop head.
2. Place head snugly in net washing bag or other perforated bag. Synthetic dust mops do not require a netted bag.
3. Soak mop for 10 minutes in hot soapy water.
4. Pour 1 capful of your regular laundry detergent into the washing machine. Wash mop head 3-5 minutes in hot soapy or detergent water at low machine speed. CAUTION: Never machine wash mop head by itself - always wash in a full machine load. Over-washing or the use of bleach will cause severe damage to the yarn.
5. Rinse thoroughly in lukewarm water to remove alkali.
6. Remove head from washing bag and tumble in dryer not exceeding 180°F until dry. Excessive temperatures and drying times will cause rapid mop deterioration.

Hand Washing

Just dunk mop head up and down in warm soapy water until dirt washes away; then rinse, gently squeeze and hang dry.

Centrifugal Extraction: Bring to full speed (450 rpm) for 6 minutes and release.

Hydraulic Extraction: 250 PSI -8.3 bar for 3 minutes and release.

Drying: For best results, air dry microfiber mops. If a dryer is used, tumble dry using low heat only.

Handling/Processing:
1. Do not use bleach to remove stains or for any other reason. Bleach will decrease the effectiveness and durability of the microfiber product.
2. Do not use fabric softener.
3. Do not wash with terry towels, regular mops or any other product that will shed lint.
4. Separate different colored microfiber mops before their first wash.
5. Microfiber mops can be hand washed using warm soapy water.

Note:
Over time, the use of harsh chemicals such as those contained in bleach and fabric softeners will reduce the performance and longevity of microfiber mops.
